UK Mail has raised almost £80,000 during their two year partnership with Age UK, exceeding their fundraising target of £75,000.
The company embarked on a two year partnership with Age UK in September 2015, making company donations and encouraging employee fundraising and volunteering to help Age UK support more older people.
Employees quickly got on board, running marathons, hosting bake sales and dress down days to raise money for Age UK. The UK Mail match initiative encouraged employees to take on sporting challenges, with the company matching individual’s fundraising up to the value of £500.
The volunteering opportunities available through Age UK meant employees could make a direct impact on the lives of older people in the UK. As part of the Call in Time programme, selected UK Mail employees made weekly phone calls to older people, in an effort to combat loneliness in later life.
In addition, UK Mail supported the innocent Big Knit campaign by transporting almost one million little hats across the country to be put on smoothie bottles. Employees from across the UK also got involved in this campaign, knitting over 1,800 hats over the two year partnership.
Hannorah Lee, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Age UK, said: “In two years, UK Mail raised an incredible amount of money that will go a long way to help Age UK be there for more older people who need us. Thanks to their support, we can provide vital information and support to those who may otherwise face later life all alone.”
Now part of the Deutsche Post DHL Group, UK Mail will join the DHL UK Foundation in November 2017. In this new partnership, the company will embark on fundraising and volunteering opportunities to support disadvantaged children and help young people to reach their full potential.
