George Hollingbery MP visits UK Mail depot in his Meon Valley constituency

by Press Team | Jun 11, 2018

George Hollingbery MP visited UK Mail, part of Deutsche Post DHL Group, in his Meon Valley constituency to tour operations and discuss the company’s recent growth and contribution to the local community.

George Hollingbery MP visited the UK Mail depot in his constituency on the outskirts of Fareham to meet nearly 100 people working on site and delivering parcels in the local area. The UK Mail depot provides a vital service for local businesses and constituents who rely on UK Mail for e-commerce deliveries and collections.

The 36,850 sqft site has been serving the Meon Valley and surrounding postcodes since 2006 and handles up to 10,000 parcels a day.

Peter Fuller, CEO, UK Mail said: “We were delighted George Hollingbery has come to visit this key site for our operations and very much welcome his interest in UK Mail and our future.  We’ve been delivering to the constituency for 12 years now and we’re pleased to be able to make a contribution to the local area through jobs and servicing local businesses and the growing e-commerce market in Meon Valley, Fareham and the wider region.”

George Hollingbery, MP, Meon Valley said: ‘‘I am pleased to see first-hand the services UK Mail provides the local community and the investment in local jobs they provide, particularly the recruitment from the Government’s work placement scheme for those on Jobseekers Allowance.  Internet shopping is now very popular, so this industry is going to continue to grow and offer more jobs. During my visit, I was impressed to hear the company is committed to zero emissions by 2050. With more vehicles on the road delivering in this internet age, this is an important pledge.’’
