The M25 Dartford Bridge was closed for much of yesterday evening following a serious accident. This resulted in severe traffic congestion in the surrounding area which impacted our local Collection and Delivery team and our Linehaul operations last night. Our operations teams have been working hard to limit service disruption, but parcel deliveries may be affected in the Dartford, Medway and Docklands areas today. The Men’s and Women’s Cycling Time Trial events will take place today (Wednesday 8th August), with various road closures in place across Glasgow and the surrounding area. 

Road closures will impact areas throughout Glasgow city centre, Bearsden, Milngavie, Lennoxtown, Torrance, Bishopbriggs and Stirling, as well as around Junction 15 of the M8. As a result, there is a potential for collection and delivery delays in these areas.

The Royal Wedding takes place this Saturday (19th May). Preparations for the event will commence today which may cause service disruptions  from today (Thursday 17th) and into the weekend in the local area. Parking will be unavailable on the procession route from this evening onwards, meaning we will be unable to make deliveries to these postcodes. In addition, large overflow car parks will be set-up in Maidenhead which will are likely to cause service disruption in this area.


On the day, thousands of visitors will descend on Windsor to witness this exciting event, causing severe traffic in Windsor and the surrounding areas. As a result, there will be further collection and delivery delays over the weekend.

As weather conditions improve across the network, our operational teams are continuing to work hard to ensure disruption from the extreme weather conditions is minimised. 
 
Last night (5 March 2018) network volumes were unseasonably high, as many customers who were affected by last week’s weather cleared backlogs and significantly increased their shipments. We therefore have a small volume of parcels held in our national hub and as a result are experiencing 24 hour delays in isolated areas due to increased volumes. 
 
Scotland and the South West of England are still being impacted as a result of adverse weather challenges in these areas, with yellow weather warnings still in place across certain parts of Scotland. 
 
We expect our delivery and collection services to be fully resumed across the network by close of business on Wednesday.

Delivery and collection operations return as weather conditions improve 

Weather conditions have improved across large parts of the UK and our depots are now fully operational with deliveries and collections resuming. 

The Met Office has issued further yellow weather warnings for 5 March 2018 and we expect there will be isolated delays in South West England and Scotland. However, these will be minimal as the weather improves throughout the next 24 hours.

Met Office issue amber and yellow weather warnings throughout the UK

Extreme weather conditions are continuing to persist throughout large parts of the UK. Many roads are severely impacted by heavy snow which is affecting deliveries and collections for our parcel and mail operations across the UK and Ireland. 

The Met Office has issued further amber and yellow weather warnings for 2 March 2018 and forecast the situation is likely to persist into the weekend. We are closely monitoring the situation and our operational teams are working hard to minimise disruption where possible. However, the safety of the public and our people remains paramount to us and we will only attempt to collect or deliver where it is safe to do so.

Red weather warnings from the Met Office have extended to the South West and as a result we have suspended collection services in Truro and Exeter. Deliveries and collection in Ireland and Scotland are also cancelled for 1 March 2018.

Severe weather conditions persist throughout the UK impacting operations. 

As a result of extreme weather conditions, our parcel and mail operations are experiencing delays throughout the UK, with East Anglia and Newcastle being severely impacted. Deliveries and collections in Scotland will also be suspended for 1 March. 

Snow continues to impact local roads across much of the UK and current weather conditions are forecast to persist for the remainder of the week and into the weekend.  Red weather warnings continue to be in place across the central belt of Scotland and the alert has now also been extended to  cover South West England.

Collections cancelled in Scotland, Newcastle and Norwich due to on-going  weather conditions and Met Office warnings 

As a result of extreme weather conditions we're experiencing in Scotland, Newcastle and Norwich, we have cancelled all collections in these areas for 28 February 2018.

Roads in these areas are currently unsafe for vehicles to use and transport links have been impacted, including the closure of the southbound M74 in Scotland.

Severe weather conditions throughout the UK are forecasted to persist and the Met Office have issued a red weather warning for the central belt of Scotland and amber weather warnings for large parts of UK.

Due to an accident on the M25 clockwise between J23 and J25 this morning, all roads in the surrounding areas are severely congested and as a result, we are experiencing isolated delays in the UK Mail network. Due to disruption caused by Storm Ophelia, a number of businesses are still closed in North Ireland and South Ireland today. Flights have resumed to North Ireland, but there is no ferry service. 

We are still unable to deliver freight to the Isle of Man, with normal service  expected to resume tomorrow. There are no major issues caused by weather in Scotland. However, the majority of ferries to the Western offshore isles will not be running. 

It is expected that weather conditions will improve on Wednesday 18th October, but we will continue to keep you updated with any further disruptions.

The M5 has been closed southbound between junctions 19 and 20 after a multi-vehicle crash involving one of our vehicles early this morning. All lanes are closed around Portishead and our operational teams are currently working hard to limit service disruption. If the strike goes ahead, it is expected that there will be a severely reduced service during this period. Despite challenging weather conditions across many parts of the UK, we are pleased to advise that all UK Mail freight was successfully trunked overnight and is out for delivery with our drivers this morning. Early rain and snow over central and eastern parts should clear this morning and we anticipate that our service levels will not be significantly affected.

Due to high winds across the country, there are several bridge and road closures. The most notable being The Forth Road Bridge in east central Scotland, where some service delays may be experienced. Our drivers are working hard to limit any service disruptions.

Due to two carriageway closures on the M1 motorway we expect serious delays in and around the Bedford, Milton Keynes and Northampton areas. The northbound carriageway was closed at approximately 03:00 GMT and is expected to remain shut between junction 16, near Northampton, and junction 18, near Rugby for the remainder of the day. Southbound at junction 12 an accident involving four lorries has caused severe congestion and although the road has reopened, we expect delays well into the afternoon.

An accident on the M4 westbound between junctions 10 and 11 has meant drivers have been delayed arriving in the central Reading postcodes this morning. We expect there will be an impact on delivery and collection times in this area.

At 6am this morning a tram overturned in Croydon trapping 5 people and injuring over 40 others; the incident is causing a number of service issues at our Croydon site today. 

There are significant delays around the UK Mail Croydon site due to diverted traffic and road closures, which are impeding drivers and impacting deliveries this morning. The incident is on the border of Croydon and Bromley, there are significant delays in BR/CR/SE postcodes with a number of road closures.

Priority service will be affected and it is likely there will be a number of addresses that we will not be able to deliver to today.

The M6 between J16 and J17 northbound was closed by the authorities at 01:00 AM GMT this morning following a serious multi- vehicle accident. Several of our vehicles have experienced delays following the incident and unfortunately this has impacted some of our scheduled deliveries in Scotland.

We are now working closely with our effected teams to ensure that our freight is delivered on-time. Any failures will be automatically upgraded to our Saturday delivery and attempted tomorrow.

On Monday 17 October there will be several road closures in place around Manchester City Centre due to celebrations of Team GB’s Olympic and Paralympic success. This event will also take place on Tuesday 18 October in Central London. UK Mail Drivers will attempt deliveries and collections, however it is expected some customers could experience delays.

Samsung has asked all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place. Consumers’ safety remains the top priority and therefore UK Mail and ipostparcels will not be carrying the Galaxy Note7 through the network until further notice.
